A useful rubber lining quotation explains what the supplier will deliver, which conditions it assumes and what the buyer must provide. Send the same enquiry package to each supplier so differences in price can be understood alongside differences in scope.

Describe the operating brief

Identify the equipment, substrate, contact medium, concentration range and normal and maximum operating temperatures. Include cleaning conditions, pressure or vacuum where relevant, drawings and the required lining area. State whether the work concerns new equipment or an existing lining. Mark information that still needs confirmation instead of inserting an estimated value without explanation.

Compare the proposed supply

Ask for the proposed compound designation, current technical information and written suitability confirmation for the stated service. Request the sheet quantity and proposed thickness, with the basis for any recommendation. Clarify whether primers, adhesives, joint materials, packaging and accessories are included. A material name alone does not define the complete lining system.

Make installation boundaries visible

If installation is required, request separate descriptions of substrate preparation, application, curing or other commissioning steps, inspection and repairs. Identify who provides access, utilities, lifting, scaffolding and site readiness. For refurbishment, ask how unexpected substrate damage or additional removal work will be assessed and authorised.

Read the commercial response

Compare material and installation charges, freight, taxes, payment terms, delivery basis, quotation validity and the proposed schedule. Record exclusions and unresolved assumptions next to the price. Ask suppliers to explain any substitution rather than treating a different compound or service scope as an equivalent offer.

Before issuing an order, resolve open questions in writing and reference the agreed drawing revision and scope. This creates a practical basis for purchasing, delivery and later acceptance without relying on a headline price alone.

FAQ

Can I compare quotations using only the price per area?

Only after the material, quantity basis and included work are aligned. Preparation, accessories, installation, inspection and freight can change the scope behind the quoted price.

What should I do when operating information is missing?

Label the missing information and ask the supplier which details are required for material selection. Keep the quotation conditional until the relevant assumptions are confirmed.
